Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers about Wadmore's cognitive profiling platform, assessments, and how we can help you understand cognitive development.
General
Wadmore is a cognitive profiling platform that measures performance across eight independently-scored cognitive domains using adaptive psychometrics. Unlike traditional tests that rank and compare, Wadmore provides strength-based Wadmore Cognitive Profiles designed to support decisions in schools, families, and organisations.
Many traditional assessments report a single score or rank. Wadmore measures eight cognitive domains independently using IRT-based adaptive psychometrics, and connects each domain to specific developmental strategies grounded in peer-reviewed research. We focus on demonstrated capability and developmental pathways, not deficits or fixed rankings.
Wadmore measures cognitive performance across eight domains: Abstract Reasoning (pattern recognition and novel problem-solving), Logical Sequencing (multi-step reasoning and logical rules), Processing Speed (rapid information processing under timed conditions), Memory & Attention (working memory under cognitive load), Executive Functioning (planning, inhibition, and cognitive flexibility), Metacognition (strategy monitoring and adjustment), Cognitive Confidence (confidence calibration and accurate self-assessment), and Creative Thinking (divergent thinking and original idea generation).
Developmental bands describe positions on a continuum of cognitive capability, from foundational (Band 1) through to professional capability (Band 12), with expert bands (13 to 15) available through a separate, focused assessment currently in development. Rather than comparing you to others, bands show where you are on a developmental continuum and clarify practical next steps for growth.
No. Wadmore describes cognitive patterns as observed in specific tasks. It is not a diagnostic instrument and does not diagnose learning disabilities, giftedness, or clinical conditions. If you have concerns about learning or development, please consult a qualified professional.
Families
$199 AUD for one child, $329 for two and $429 for three, then $130 for each further child, all including GST and paid once. Each profile includes the complete eight-domain Cognitive Profile, practical strategies for home, a school conversation guide, and PDF and online access. There is no subscription, and there is a 14-day full refund guarantee.
Because doing well and coasting look identical in school results, and clarity does not require a problem. A profile shows where fine can become excellent, and whether fine is effortless or expensive. It is also cheapest before a problem: this kind of evidence is most useful while options are still open.
Different evidence class. School testing shows attainment: what a student has achieved. Wadmore profiles what a student brings to achieving: reasoning, memory, attention, focus, and confidence, observed live. More attainment data cannot answer a capability question, at any volume. The two are complementary, not competing.
Waiting is the expensive option. Support is cheapest, and choices are widest, before patterns harden into results. For decades this kind of evidence was rationed to crisis, available through clinical referral once something was visibly wrong. Wadmore exists so families and schools can see clearly first.
The session is built to make that impractical and pointless. Every response is individually timed, the assessment adapts in real time, and many tasks are speeded or perceptual, where outside help costs more time than it saves. More simply: the profile exists to help your child, and there is no version of this where fooling your own profile pays. Where results carry stakes, such as scholarship identification, supervised sittings are the condition of use. One honest note: a small number of open-response creative tasks are the least protected, which is one reason Creative Thinking is reported as a pattern rather than a placement.
Wadmore assessments are designed for individuals aged 8 and older. Our developmental framework spans from early childhood through adult expertise.
The full family assessment typically takes 60 to 90 minutes in total. It's adaptive, so the exact time varies based on responses. You can pause and resume if needed.
For younger children (around 8-10), we recommend a parent or guardian be nearby to help with reading instructions if needed, though they shouldn't help with the actual questions. Older children and teenagers can typically complete it independently.
You'll receive a comprehensive Wadmore Cognitive Profile showing strengths and growth areas across all eight independently-measured domains, your developmental band placement in each area, and evidence-based strategies for supporting development at home and school. These profiles describe current cognitive performance and can change with experience and over time.
Absolutely. Your profile includes guidance on discussing cognitive patterns with teachers. Many parents find this transforms their parent-teacher conversations by providing a shared language for understanding their child's cognitive profile.
For children and young people, reassessing every one to two years shows how the profile is developing. Schools using Pathways re-measure every two years. Adults may find value in reassessing every two to three years or at a significant transition.
Schools
$40 AUD + GST per student for the Cognitive Profile and Pathways together. There is no cohort minimum. Founding schools lock in that rate for three years.
Pathways is the companion report to the Cognitive Profile, for Years 8 to 10. It is released after the profile and brings together the student's results with what they tell us about themselves: the real-world challenges they picked, activities and topics they enjoy, and jobs they have thought about. It sets out eight career areas, explores three in detail with ways to test the fit, and shows the subjects that keep options open, timed before each subject choice. The student questions are in build, and sample reports shared today are design previews.
Wadmore provides evidence about each student's cognitive performance, supporting responsive teaching, meaningful support conversations, and confident pathway decisions. Class-level analytics help identify patterns to inform planning.
Wadmore profiles provide documented evidence of cognitive performance that can contribute to the evidence base for NCCD (Nationally Consistent Collection of Data) adjustment-level records, alongside your existing observational and achievement data.
Schools receive hierarchical access: system administrators see cross-campus analytics, principals see whole-school profiles, and teachers see their class cognitive patterns with evidence to inform teaching and support decisions. Role-based permissions ensure appropriate access.
Student assessments typically take 60 to 90 minutes in total. The adaptive design ensures efficient assessment without compromising precision. Sessions can be paused and resumed if needed.
Wadmore can provide evidence about cognitive patterns across domains. However, we take a strength-based approach: rather than labelling students as 'gifted' or 'not gifted', we show where each student's capabilities lie and provide evidence to inform decisions about extension and support.
We offer professional development packages covering interpretation of cognitive evidence, translating profiles into classroom decisions, and using Wadmore data for learning support planning. Contact us for customised PD options.
Professional
Wadmore Professional reveals patterns in how your people approach complexity, collaboration, and change under cognitive demand. This provides evidence to support development conversations, team discussions, and role development.
No. Personality tests describe self-reported preferences and traits. Wadmore measures demonstrated cognitive performance through structured assessment tasks: how people approach unfamiliar problems, hold information under load, judge their own performance, and generate original ideas. This provides performance-based evidence for development conversations and team understanding, not self-perception.
Around 60 to 90 minutes. The assessment is designed to respect professionals' time while gathering meaningful cognitive evidence.
Team reports show collective cognitive patterns, implications for how the team communicates, and evidence to inform collaboration and development decisions. Leaders can see how their team's cognitive diversity may affect dynamics.
No. Wadmore is a development instrument, not a selection instrument, and we don't support its use as a hiring filter. Where it adds value is after the hire: understanding how people approach cognitive work, building complementary teams, and targeting development. Our terms of use reflect this boundary.
Privacy & Technical
All data is stored on secure servers in Melbourne, Australia. We use encryption for data in transit and at rest, implement strict access controls, and never sell personal information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
For family accounts, only you control access to your data. For school accounts, results are visible to authorised school staff. For professional accounts, your organisation's administrator determines access levels. You can request your data or its deletion at any time.
Yes. You can request deletion of your personal data by contacting privacy@wadmore.com.au. We'll process your request in accordance with Australian privacy law and our data retention policies.
Wadmore works in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on a tablet, laptop or desktop with a stable internet connection. Some tasks are timed and a larger screen gives the fairest experience, so we do not recommend completing the assessment on a phone.
Your progress is automatically saved. If you lose connection, simply log back in and continue from where you left off. Assessment sessions can be paused and resumed as needed.
